Luohan Temple
"Luohan" is the Chinese interpretation
of Buddha disciples referring to people who have relieved themselves from
the psychological bondage of greed, hate and delusion. This Luohan Temple
was
built during the Song Dynasty, destroyed twice and rebuilt, first in 1752
and again in 1945. Some 70 monks once lived here, though today less than
20 are in residence. The temple's chief attraction is the collection of
500 painted clay Luohan figures in various exaggerating poses. There is
also a good vegetarian restaurant that is associated with the temple.
The temple is located in the downtown area of Chongqing.

The South Hot Spring Park
The South Hot Spring Park is 26km away from urban
Chongqing with 12 well-known natural attractions, including Fairy Cave,
the Waterfall on the Crag and Floral
Stream. It covers a large area of some 400 acres and is filled with beautiful
flowers along rambling brooks to make it an ideal place for enjoying fishing
among the solitude of nature.
The hot spring rises from the Jianwen Peak nearby
with a water temperature of 38 degrees centigrade.
As the legend is told, a runaway child-bride during
the Ming dynasty could not bear the persecution of her husband and followed
the Taoism here to finally became a fairy. Another tale claims that when
the fairy freshened up by the waterfall, she was knocked into the stream
by a shepherd child but flew away. Hence comes the name of Fairy Cave.
