Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province serving as its administrative, educational and cultural center. As a major industrial base, it is the hub of air, rail, and road transportation in southwest China. Du Fu Cottage - is a shrine built in honour of the famous Tang poet, Du Fu . Wu Hou Shrine - is a shrine built for the famous Chinese military strategist of the third century, Zhuge Liang. Qingcheng Shan - is a holy Taoist mountain 65 km west of Chengdu and a less rigorous climb than to Gmeishan. There are numerous Taoist temples en route to the summit.
