Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province serving as its administrative, educational and cultural center. As a major industrial base, it is the hub of air, rail, and road transportation in southwest China. It is also known as the "Land in Heaven" because of its abundant agricultural resources and mild climate.

Du Fu Cottage - is a shrine built in honour of the famous Tang poet, Du Fu .
Wu Hou Shrine - is a shrine built for the famous Chinese military strategist of the third century, Zhuge Liang.
Qingcheng Shan - is a holy Taoist mountain 65 km west of Chengdu and a less rigorous climb than to Gmeishan. There are numerous Taoist temples en route to the summit.
