Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a political, economic and cultural hub of the region. It is affected by the maritime climate with annual rainfall averaging 1,300 millimeters and an annual humidity of about 80%. The mild climate produces a lush city with green plants all year round. The saying "Grass remains green
throughout the winter while flowers keep blooming in all seasons" is a vivid description of the city and the sub-tropical scenery is the reason Nanning is known as "Green City".
