Wuxi is located in Jiangsu's southern flatlands and close to the northeastern shore of picturesque Tai Lake. According to legend, Wuxi was founded more than 3,000 years ago by Tai Bo and Zhong Yong, two princes of Zhou. invested into developing industry due to its strategic location (on the railway and the Grand Canal). It is now a thriving industrial centers attracting major foreign investment with a population of 4 million.


Wuxi is famous for handicrafts of clay figurines that can be purchased in antique shops and hand-woven silk from silk-reeling and weaving factories.

Yuhuang Pavilion is a restored 400 year old building on Jiefang Jie, near the Drum Tower. The pavilion has a small museum and the collectionincludes mummified bodies taken from the tombs outside Yinchuan

Li Garden is in southwest Wuxi, and is surrounded by Wuli lake on 3 sides. It is a mix of rock formationsand greenery, some man made. A 1,000-meter long corridor winds around the park and has brick inscriptions of famous ancient calligraphers such as Su Dongpo and Mifu. There is also a large white wall with numerous latticed openings from where you can view the park at different angles. The park is especially popular in the spring when the plum blossoms are in full bloom.
