This holiday resort is located among the peaks of Taihangshan Mountain Range in Jingxing County, 78 kilometers from the city proper Shijiazhuang. It is a quaint setting characterized by old temples and a mountainous landscape. The most impressive of the old buildings on the mountain is Temple of Happiness, which was first built in the Sui Dynasty (581-618). The temple is composed of seven groups of buildings, elaborately constructed and blending with the geographical features of its natural setting. With springs, waterfalls and old trees, every scene of the green mountain draws attention to its natural beauty . Considered to be one of the masterpieces of ancient Chinese temples and gardens, Mount Cangyan has been listed by the Chinese government as a national-level Area of Scenery and Historical Interest.
