There are many luxury hotels in Guilin city but prices are
higher than many westerners' expectation compared to rest of China. It
is still necessary to make a reservation if you plan to visit during public
holidays, especially the Labor Day (1st, May), the National Day (1st,
Oct.), Christmas and the Chinese Spring Festival. It is recommended to
stay in Yangshuo rather than Guilin if you arrive during these peak holidays.
