Guilin
Liangjiang International Airport |
| |
Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is a fairly modern
airport, approximately 28 kilometers away from the downtown. Apart from
dense domestic air routes, there are two regional routes connecting Hong
Kong, Macau and international routes connecting Japan, South Korea, Singapore,
Thailand and Malaysia. Most large hotels have airport shuttles available
but they request prior notice to book at a cost of RMB20. A taxi into
the city costs about RMB80-RMB100. When departing Guilin for the airport,
CAAC operates a bus service from its Shanghai Road office (at Minzhu Road)
to the airport everyday.

Highways |
| |
You can travel long distances by overland coaches from Guilin
to almost every neighboring city near Guangxi, or as far away as Hainan
Island, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Construction of new expressways is making
the highway networks more efficient than ever before. You should be aware
that not all buses ares air-conditioned and older sections of bumpy roads
make it uncomfortable as well as continuous smoking may make the adventure
an unpleasant journey.
Most short range buses (to Yangshuo and Xing'an) leave from the old railway
station in the west. These buses should be relatively inexpensive (RMB10-20
to Yangshuo). Long distance buses leave from the Long Distance Bus Station
on Zhongshan Road near the Taihe Hotel. By long distance bus, you can
reach Guangzhou, Nanning, other Southern destinations and regional cities
in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. Buses, taxis, pedi-cabs and bicycles
are the most popular forms of local transport. |
