Foreign tourists can apply for a 15-day entry
visa when landing in Haikou
( the capital ) or in Sanya. The visa can hopefully be extended if
you attend to prolong your stay or to the mainland of China. |

| Hainan Island is under the influence of tropical
monsoon climate. Its annual average temperature and annual average
rainfall are respectively 23.8 C, and 1500-2000 mm, and its sunny
days are more than 300 a year, very tropical. Actually this Island
locates along almost the same latitude with Hawaii and Jamaica, the
same beautiful and exotic as well . |
 |
| In terms of climate the time period between
September and April of the next year are the peak season to visit
Hainan. Even in the coolest months of December and January it is very
pleasantly warm(in Sanya the temperature stays above 20 degrees centigrade)
while in summer time this island receives too much ultraviolet radiation
in addition with possible raids of typhoon. However you better avoid
the periods from Oct1 to 7 and New Year holidays and Chinese Spring
Festival(usually during a 10-day period in late January or early February
each year), when loads of Chinese land the island for a vacation. |

- Do not buy seashell stuff and coral in whatever formations
for it is prohibited from commercial purpose by Chinese environment
law;
- Do not purchase pearl any other souvenirs on tour beaches cause
in most cases they are fake stuff;
- Haikou and Sanya are connected by a circular express networks
through eastern coast and western coast. In case you wanna witness
the highlands and take the central highway en route Tongzha and
Qioangzhong, be aware the central highway is a climbing and descending
experience and very likely you can't take a deluxe bus which means
you have to stand up with bumping or heat in summer.
- If you plan to visit the island in summer time (from May to
October), you better check the weather forecast for avoiding typhoons.
