Luciano Pavarotti
Luciano Pavarotti
is returning to Hong Kong on 16 June after an absence of more
than 11 years. Joining him in Hong Kong will be renowned soprano,
Carmela Remigio. Included in their programme will be celebrated
arias and duets from "Tosca", "La Boheme", "Madama Butterfly",
"Cavalleria Rusticana" and "The Merry Widow". The Conductor is
Janos Acs and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta are also scheduled to
appear.
A legend in his own lifetime, Luciano Pavarotti's impact
on the world of music has been enormous, broadening the horizons
of classical music and bringing many new fans to his art.
In addition to his performances in the world's great opera houses,
for 18 years he has been drawing huge crowds to arenas and open-air
concerts. More than 500,000 people attended his 1993 concert in
New York's Central Park.
Worldwide, audiences for his televised concerts, including The
3 Tenors concerts during the soccer World Cups in 1990, 1994 and
1998, have numbered in their billions, breaking all records for
'live' televised concerts.
A superbly tuned acoustical system developed especially for Luciano
Pavarotti by an international team of recording engineers
will result in sound at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition
Centre that is of the highest quality. This system ensures a natural
presentation of his incredible voice evenly distributed to every
part of the auditorium.
Masterminding the delicate and intricate sound balance to Maestro
Pavarotti's satisfaction on June 16th will be Alexander Yuill
Thornton II and John Pellowe, who was previously with Decca Records
and has been involved with many of Pavarotti's recordings. Both
have worked on Luciano Pavarotti concerts and The 3 Tenors concerts
around the world.
