Shopping in Hong Kong's bustling street markets can be great fun but it is hit-or-miss. There are specialty markets (Flower, Bird, Fish, Ladies) to those that sell almost everything, such as Temple Street Night Market. Li Yuen Streets East and West in Central and Jardine's Bazaar in Causeway Bay are good for discounted fashions. The Ladies Market in Mong Kok is good for inexpensive fashion, such as jeans. Hong Kong is a good place to buy high quality jewelry at reasonable prices. The duty free status enables dealers to offer jade, gold, diamonds and pearls in unusual settings by highly-skilled local craftsmen to custom design settings. Be sure to bring your spectacles prescription because eyewear is inexpensive. You can have prescriptions copied and have a spare pair of eyeglasses in a few hours.
