Hong Kong is a metropolitan city with a well-established
public transportation system. Visitors staying a few days will find it
is more convenient to purchase an "Octopus" card which is available from
most stations and allows travel on most public transport, such as KCR/MTR
trains and buses.

To/From the Airport
Since the official opening of the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek
Lap Kok on July 6, 1998, visitors around the world have been amazed at
the large and modern airport. It is the world's largest civil engineering
project valued at nearly US$20 billion including the Tsing Ma Bridge.
1) Airport Express (AEL): Train departs every 10 mins and takes only 23
mins to the Hong Kong Station in Central district. Fare: Single journey
HK$90.
2) AIRBUS with different routes to most of the hotels from 6:00 am to
midnight. A11 to Causeway Bay &Tin Hau MTR Station at 15 min. interval
for HK$40. A21 to Hung Hom KCR station at 10 min. interval for HK$33 to
Tsuen Wan at 15 minute interval for HK$17. A41 to Shat Tin at 30 min.
interval for HK$20.
3) Taxis: Approximately HK$335 to Causeway Bay HK$380 to Central, HK$375
to Aberdeen, HK$325 to Wan Chai, HK$285 Tsimshatsui, HK$325 to Shatin.
4) Ferry link between airport at the pier and Tuen Mun in the New Territories.
Operate daily 6 am-10 pm at 30 mins intervals. Fare: HK$15. Operate daily
6 am-10:40 pm (from Tuen Mun) 11pm (from Chek Lap Kok) at 20-40 mins intervals.
Fare: Adult HK$15, Child/Senior Citizens HK$10.

The KCR East Rail
Train service from Hung Hom on Kowloon Peninsula to the PRC boundary at
Lo Wu. Trains terminate there except the Inter-City through trains to
Guangzhou, Dongguan, Foshan and Zhaoqing cities in Guangdong. A Chinese
Visa is required to travel to Lo Wu and cross the border into the adjacent
city, Shenzhen. Runs every 2-10 minutes from 5:30 am-12:20am. Standard

The terminal is the transit point for public ferry services to di fferent
cities on the Chinese Mainland, mainly southern China. 1) Estimated
