Snow
There is usually snow on Mount Huangshan during the Spring Festival (mid-February).
The accumulated snow melts quickly, in two or three days so it is important
to go there at the correct time. To have the best possible chance of experiencing
the snow, it is advisable to depart for Huangshan immediately after there
is a weather forecast of pending snow in the area.
Road Access in wintertime
The
roads remain open during snowstorms for access to Huangshan Mountain.
In recent years, winter season has become a small peak period for Huangshan
tourism. Domestic tourists flock to enjoy the snow during the Spring Festival
holidays when all of the hotels in the region are fully occupied.
Huangshan Mountain is well-known nationwide as a "safe
mountain" and after years of revamping, the approaching roads
have become its pride. In snowy weather, heavy snow will be promptly swept
to guarantee the safety of journey of all vehicles.
Climate in winter
The weather on Huangshan Mountain belongs to a sub-tropical climate with
an average temperature in January of approximately 6.6 degrees Centigrade.
Huangshan Mountain has little rain in winter and the average annual snow
precipitation lasts 49 days. The hotels in the scenic resorts are all
equipped with heaters and down jackets are offered for use in each room.
