Macau International Airport is located on Taipa Island and operates 24
hours a day for direct access from around the world. It opened in November
1995, with over 30 weekly flights from over 17 cities. It is linked by
scheduled air services to Bangkok, Manila, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Moscow,
Singapore and other cities in China including Beijng, Fuzhou, Guilin,
Kuming, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Xi'an and Xiamen.
Travellingfrom the airport to the city center takes approximately 15 minutes.
A taxi ride to the city center will cost about MOP$50, with a small additional
charge of each piece of luggage carried in the trunk. Passengers with
flights to China have to pay a passenger tax of MOP$80 and travelers to
all other destinations pay MOP$130 (Children aged
2-12, pay MOP$50). Passengers in transit who continue their journey
within 24 hours of arrival are exempted from paying passenger tax.
The airport bus(AP1) departs the airport
every 15 minutes with stops at the major hotels, central Macau and the
Macau-to-Hong Kong ferry terminal ending its journey at the Macau/China
border crossing.
By Sea
The most common means of transportation between Hong Kong and Macau are
the jetfoils that operate round the clock. The journey takes about 55 minutes.
There are also hover-ferries, hydrofoils, flying-cats, jumbo cats, high-speed
ferries and the TurboJet. The Macau Ferry terminal is about a 15-minute
drive from the Macau International Airport. The ferry terminal has over
150 departures to Hong Kong every day by either jetfoil, TurboJet or express
ferry service. It is easy to book a jetfoil ticket for weekday travel but
it is advisable to book in advance for weekends and public holidays.
Tickets to Macau can be bought in Hong Kong up to 28 days in advance and
