Nightlife aside, other amusement type entertainment tends to focus around the Confucius Temple area. There are numerous arcades, bowling alleys, pool halls and cinemas creating a lively area, especially when the street market opens in the evening.

Night on Qinhuai River

These are cruises aboard decorated ships and dragon boats on the Qinhuai River that attempt to transport the travelers back to the river's good old days when its surface was studded with dimly lit lanterns and the air reverberated with the squeaking sound of oars as boats plied the gently waves. Tourists are also entertained with light refreshments or banquets on the deck to the accompaniment of music and ballad singing accompanied by traditional Chinese instruments.
