There are flights from Tibet to Beijing, Cheng Du, Xi An, Chong Qing and the capital of Nepal. Besides those flights, there are highways that link up with other nearby provinces. There are 5 different highways in entering Tibet: Chuan-Zang Highway, Dian-Zang Highway, Qing Zang-Highway, Xin-Zang Highway and Zhong-Ni Highway. There are different features of the scene for each highway.

Qing Zang Highway:

  • Qing Zang Highways starts from Qing Hai Golmud and ends at Lhasa. The whole length of it is 1,115 km. The highway is quite smooth and you can admire the scenery of the biggest salt water lake of China - Qing Hai Lake.

Chuan-Zang Highway:

  • Chuan Zang Highway starts from Cheng Du and ends at Lhasa. The whole length of it is 2, 410 km. The difference in elevation vary during the whole highway, so you can experience 4 seasons within the same day. It may also snow on the mountain and feel warm at the foot of the mountain. The highway is built round the mountain and the path is rugged. It is quite possible to have landslide during rainy season and block the highway. As delay may incur loss to travelers, the schedule in travelling on the highway should not be too tight. The scene is graceful throughout the highway, which include Er Lang Mountain, Lao Ding Bridge on Da Du River, Kang Ding, Li Tang grassland, beautiful Hai Zi Mountain, torrential Jin Sha Jiang River, Ran Niao Lake and Lu Lang pasture.

Dian-Zang Highway:

  • Dian-Zang Highway starts from Xia Guan and ends at Lhasa. The whole length of it is 1,930 km. The highway is quite smooth and the scene includes Cang Mountain, Er Hai (Da Li), Na Xi ancient capital (Li Jiang) and Shangri la (Zhong Dian). There is also magnificent sight of continuous mountains. This highway used to be the path traveled by ancient merchants and travelers. If you want to travel from De Yin to Lhasa, you have to travel by trucks pass by and the duration of the journey is not easy to predict.

Xin Zang Highway:

  • Xin Zang Highway starts from Xin Jiang Ye Cheng and ends at Lhasa. The whole length of it is 2,841 km. Xin Zang Highway possesses the highest elevation among other 4 highways. The elevation of the initial part of the highway is higher and the latter part is placid. Most part of the highway is in untraversed region, so transportation and telecommunication is not that convenient. There are trucks that travel from Xin Jiang Ye Cheng to the capital of A Li - Shi Quan He Town. But there is not much trucks that travel in the opposite direction. The most ideal case is that several people join together and rent a car. It will be safer to have more than one car to walk on the highway at the same time. Most of the drivers will prepare more petrol for the journey as it is not easy to find a petrol station on the way. It will take more than half month to finish the journey. The scene on the way is splendid. You can rarely see pedestrian who walk at untraversed region, but you can easily see many animals there. There are wild donkeys and yellow sheep running at the mountain foot. You may also admire the climate change of Kun Lun Mountain and the ruins of Gu Ge Kingdom and also Bai Ju Monastery.
