The airport of Lhasa is in the south-east
side with 93 miles away from the city. There are airport coaches
(USD$3.95) that can bring you to the aviationl centre of Liang
Ye Road. It will take you about 2 hours for the journey. It is
2 kmsaway to travel from the aviation centre to Barkhor Street
where there are many hostels. The flights fly to and from Lhasa
are usually scheduled in the morning. As there is no airport coaches
service in the morning, travelers may need to rent a car or stay
overnight in the airport one day in advance.
Car rental / Travel Permit
- The public transportation system
is not well-developed in Tibet and there are many places that
cannot be reached by public transport. Travelers need to plan
their own route. They may rent a car from a travel agency and
apply the travel permit through it. Many travelers may want
to save travelling expenses, and so, they will leave messages
on the notice board of hostels to search for people with the
same interest to continue their journey. They may want to search
for 4-5 people to start the journey so as to share the travelling
expenses. Many travel agencies in Lhasa also provide travelers
with long-distance car rental service and can help travelers
to apply for travel permit. Car rental fee is commensurate with
car different types.

Internet in Lhasa
- Like most of the countries, there
are internet bar in Lhasa, mostly located near Jakhang Temple
of Barkhor. The service charge is USD$0.92 for 10 minutes or
USD$5.26 for an hour of online service. The opening hour is from
10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Many young travelers like to visit
there.
