The Meixi Royal Stone Archways
The Meixi Royal Stone Archways stands by the roadside of Meixi in Qianshan town. There are three ornate buildings below the archways that were bestowed upon by the Guangxu Emperor in the Qing Dynasty to honor Chen Fang (1825-1906), Consul General to Honolulu, Hawaii as a token of appreciation for Chen's generous charity to his hometown. Four stone monuments of honor were erected to commemorate the royal praise. Various patterns were carved in an exquisite design on the memorial archways filled with auspicious beasts, flowers, fruit and calligraphic works.
