Ticketing Information

1. Booking Place
Book online at www.mangocity.com and reservation to be confirmed by Customer Service.

2. How to Book in Advance
Tickets are available for booking within 60 days of travel. The departure ticket is not available for sale 20 minutes before the train departs on the very day at Hung Hom KCR Station or 2 hours at the rest three booking places.

3. How to book a valid ticket
The ticket is valid upon the designated traveling date, station and number. If the passenger disembarks half way he will not be refunded for the distance he or she has not covered. All information on the ticket must not be alterd or damaged otherwise it will be invalid. The passenger holding the altered ticket will not be refunded.

4. Price
    a. The latest information about the price is posted.
    b. Please buy children ticket for the aged 5~9 and adult ticket for the aged 10 or above.

5. Ticket Alteration Rule
If the passenger cannot take the scheduled train on the definated departure date shown on the ticket, only one alteration will be allowed for a ticket. This is allowed under the circumstance that the re-scheduled train has not yet been full. Alteration to northbound tickets must be made before 11:00am and at least 1 day before train departure. Alteration to southbound tickets must be made at least 2 days before train departure. Ticket alteration must be made at the issuing office. Moreover, no alteration can be made to the destination and class. Altered tickets are non-refundable.

6. Refunding
* Passengers may request a refund for unused Through Train tickets at least 2 hours before train departure
* * Ticket refund must be made within office hours at where the ticket was purchased. Late requests will not be handled.The scale of ticket refund is listed below:

7. Penalties for travel without a valid ticket
The following fees will be levied under these circumstances according to the stipulations by the supplier and will be charged penalties:
a. The passenger will be treated as without ticket if he loses the ticket after boarding. The adult will be charged twice the ticket price if he has no or invalid ticket but can pay the original price with premissions from the head of the train crew;
b. The child will rebuy the child ticket if he or she has no or valid ticket. The child aged 10 or above will make up the diffference between child and adult ticket;
c. If the passenger finds the lost ticket he can request 50 % refund of the price at which he rebought the ticket by producing the original ticket before he arrive at his destination;
d. If the passenger goes beyond the station designated by the ticket while holding a round ticket from HK to the mainland he will be charged twice the difference between the stops he travels but can pay the difference if he gets permission from the head of train crew. If the passenger shortens his travel he will not be refunded for the distance he has not covered.
e. If the passenger goes beyond the class stated on the ticket he will charged twice the difference between the classes. If the passenger holds a first-class ticket and chooses to sit in second-class or standard carriage he will not be refunded for the difference.
After the penalty is paid the passenger will be given a substitute ticket by the head of train crew.

Conditions for Traveling by Train

8. The passenger must board the train at Hung Hom KCR Station 45 minutes before the train departs. The lock gate is closed 10 minutes before the train departs.

9. Every adult can bring a child aged 5 or below for free on condition that the child does not occupy the seat. If the number of children the passenger brings exceeds one he should buy child ticket for the other child.

10. The passenger should board the train designated by the ticket.

11. If encounted the condition mentioned by the Item11 the passenger holding a round-trip ticket from HK to the mainland should dismount at Hung Hom KCR Station.

12. The passenger should not board the train if he suffers serious contagious disease, mental disease or drunkening or other reasons that may cause disturbance to other passenger. If discovered half way he should dismount at the nearest stop and will not be refunded for the distance he has not covered.

Parcels and luggage

13. Portable Luggage
a. The passengeer will not be charged for hand carry luggage of 20 kg for adult or 10 kg for child (excludes the folded wheel-chair for the disabled). The size (length+ width+height) of each luggage should not exceed 160 cm otherwise the luggage shall be consigned according to the rule.
b. If the luggage is over-weighty or too big it can be transported to the destination on condition that the consignment fees may be charged twice for the excess luggage and a subsitute ticket shall be purchased.

14. How to Consign Luggage or Parcel
    a. The consignable items includes books, instruments, meter, medicine, household electric appliances, textile, sewing machines, bicycles, motor-cycles (without gasoline and capacity of cylilnder not exceeding 125 m3) and small items.
    b. The consignable luggage includes:
        i. quilt, clothes, books and other necessities;
        ii. the wheel-chair for the disabled and buggy (one for each ticket);
        iii. costumes (that can be put in luggage), stage property, and musical instruments;
    c. The consignable luggage or parcel should have a volume of at leat 0.01 m3 in or a maxium weight of 75 kg.
    d. The consigning service excludes travelers to/ from Changping.

15. About collecting fees of consignment
a. The fees are collected according to the stipulations by Kowloon-Canton Railway Coporation.
b. The fees are charged according to the weight of 5 kg as a unit. The luggage less than 5 kg is charged as 5 kg. The minium weight is 10 kg.
c. The bicycle and the wheel chair for the disable is counted as 25 kg.
d. The luggage consigned for each passenger shall be less than 50 kg and charged as luggage-consigning fee. If the luggage weighs over 50 kg (75 kg for the disabled) the overweight will be charged as parcel--consigning fee.
e. Each luggage is charged 15--kg luggage-consigning fee for tourist groups consigning luggage (within 20 kg per person and will be escorted in transportation).
f. The passenger shall pay according to the stipulations by Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation in advance if he or she carries animals, otherwise he or she will be charged twice transportation fee.

16. Banned Goods
The items prohibited to carry on the train and consign in luggage or parcel includes:
a. dangerous articles, inflammables, spontaneous combustibles, explosive substance, radiations, corrosive and poisonous articles;
b. weapons and ammunition;
c. possible disease-spreading or foul-odored articles;
d. possible damaging, contaminating carroage or items carried by other passengers;
e. goods banned by the customs;
The consignor or the traveler shall be reponsible for any consequences if these prohibited articles are allowed to consign or carry which the consignor or e traveler declares under false names.

17. How to Consign
    a. The passenger should produce the ticket when he wants to consign luggage or parcel. He shall also produce the attached document stipulated by the customswhen consigning parcel.
    b. The consigned luggage and parcel are held for free on the very day when they arrive at the destination. However the passengers will be charged storage fee counted by day if they claim beyond the date. The railway is entitled to retain if the luggage or parcel if no one claims 14 days after the date.
    c. Gold, silver, platium, negotiable securities, coins, paper currency, jewlry, jadeware, antique and other valuables should be safeguarded in transportation and the person who excorts should buy corresponding ticket.
    d. The luggage and parcel should have complete, tight and suitable packing materials for transportation (except items unnecessary for packing) so as to ensure its durability in transportation otherwise the railway has the right to refuse to consign.
    e. The passenger or the consignor shall return the luggage or parcel ticket if he cancels consigning before the luggage or parcel is loaded on the train; and the railway will refund 50% of consigning fee.
    f. The total consigning fee will be returened to the consignor because of discontinued operation caused by the railway's reponsibility or natural diseasters.
    g. If the above 16e or 16f happens the consigning fee will not be refunded at the departure station that has charged but at the arrival station that will reimburse.
    h. The pets (such as cat, dog, bird, monkey or etc.) should be placed in suitable container which shall conform to the stipulations of outward and inward quarantine. And the passenger must ensure the safety of other passengers, hygiene and cleaness of the carriage. If the animal causes damage or harm to the third party the passenger shall be responsible for compensation.

18. Dealing with Damage or Loss of Luggage or Parcel
    a. The railway will have no responsibility if the loss happens due to the following factors:
        i. natural diseasters or reasons that go beyond human power;
        ii. item decreases in weight, decays or damages because of its own natural quality;
        iii. packing material or container is not durable but can not be detected from outside;
        iv. number of articles and packing are complete while the weight is insuffient;
        v. the consignor him/herself escort;
        vi. the fault of the passenger and consignor themself.
    b. When the luggage or parcel is lost or damaged partly or completely the maximum compensation will not exceed 20 Hk dollars per kg.
    c. When the luggage or parcel is lost completely the consignor shall submit written letter 5 days after consignation for compensation within 3 months. When the luggage or parcel is lost or damaged partly the consignor shall also produce a wrriten letter from the date of handing over within 3 months. The luggage ticket or parcel ticket or relevant documents must be enclosed with the letter. Exceeding the required period will be treated asforfeiture and will not be processed.
