Activities vary in different regions. Generally they include New Year greetings, family reunion dinner, offering sacrifices to ancestors, setting off firecrackers, putting up couplets on door-frames, eating New Year cakes made of glutinous rice flour and dumplings, Dragon and Lion Dances, Yangko Dance, walking on stilts, displaying festive lanterns, erecting green pine trees (Bai), swing contests(Naxi), sledge demonstrations (Manchu) and Chongtang Dance (Zhuang )
