Shennan Mid. Road Shopping & Leisure Blocks: of which the upper block centers on Zhongxin CITIC Plaza, 10-minute walk away from Huaqingbei shopping area. Zhongxin plaza is a big shopping mall attracting Seibu department stores deploying its boutique shoppe on three floors in the main building and a Japanese-owned Jusco supermarket under front concourse. In the main building, there is a high tech equipped cinema on the 3rd floor on west wing, a Pizza Hut downstairs and further down under on the ground, Starbucks and neighboring KFC and Haagen Dazs find their edging locations. Last year an international bar street sprouted that hosts a group of glass-built dapper bars with sunshade dotted around. In fact, Zhongxin Plaza sits on an interesting location – facing municipal communist committee in front and in its rear narrow back streets are abuzz with grass-root hustling activities represented by numerous restaurants, barber’s shops, drugstores and foot massage services, a getaway for many Hong Kong males for kicks.
Crossing a block eastward along Shennan road from Zhongxin plaza, you come at another, or maybe the most upscale consuming area in the city contributed by Diwang building, the tallest high-rise all-glass sheathed and recently opened MIXc mall in upholstered embellishment. The 188,000 square metre mall features around 300 international and domestic brands on six floors like Boss, Calvin Klein, Valentino and Escada, Esprit, Novo, Kenzo, Charriol and Jack & Jones. KFC and Pizza Hut joins in variegated food services together with Mexican Taco Bell and Spaghetti House. Unlike their neighboring positionings at Zhongxin Plaza, Starbucks and Haagen-Dazs here hold their parted stations respectively near main entrance and southern exit. Aggressive snack outlets and bakeries such as Bread Talk and indigenous Kee Wah shop exhibit savors and lure urbanite epicures. A high-level Golden Harvest cinema offers local residents a chance to follow a state of the art movie theater of Hong Kong – the cinema is indeed invested by Golden Harvest. On the 4th floor there is an Olympic size indoor ice skating rink dubbed as World Ice Arena, a new smash hit for local youth.
MIXc is still being extended and developed in a piece of sizable land at the south end and will become one of largest shopping mall in whole country.
MTR Grand Theatre Station has a tunnel transit outlet just under MIXc. In actual, it’s only a 15-minute walk from Dongmen westward.

Lohu Commercial Building: far from being up-market nor glitzy, and often being swept by governmental gangbusters for suspected contraband on faked brands, still it seems that this indoor bazaar-like market strenuously has rallied round time after time as one of most bustling malls in Shenzhen. The mall is just a step off the border customs building at Lohu railway station and above MTR terminus - the location of the building plays a key role considerably, for good business with customers mainly from Hong Kong.
Inside the building rows of small shops are packed, save for buying crowds, with fashions, shoes, wristwatches, curios, drape & cloth, DVD player, iPod, youngster’s badge items, either with authentic brand or faked tag. Several tailor’s shops are hidden inconspicuously among shop maze but they have being enjoyed somewhat a household name – upon the business card they claim a sleight of hand of Shanghai style. On the top or top second floor are some massage lounges and beauty salons; they also provide manicure and pedicure service. There is no space for a leisure break in whole building; even in restaurants on the second floor eaters are always filling every corner. You would feel stifled if you want nothing but are dragged in by your family unless, you’re engrossed yourself in buying spree here – well, very likely, you will.
Remember, always bargain, bargain, and bargain.
